Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow, from Family Christmas Online™

Little is known about this song or its original author. It was first published in 1867, much earlier than most similar "Spirituals." The song is usually performed in a sort of "call and answer" manner: the soloist sings the line "There's a star in the East on Christmas morn," then the rest of the choir sings "Rise up, shepherd, and follow," and so on.

There's a star in the East on Christmas morn,
Rise up, shepherd, and follow.
It will lead to the place where Christ was born
Rise up, shepherd, and follow.

Chorus:
Follow, follow, Rise up, shepherd, and follow
Follow the star of Bethlehem.
Rise up, shepherd, and follow.

If you take good heed to the angel's words,
Rise up, shepherd, and follow.
You'll forget your flocks, you'll forget your herds
