Traditional American Carols, from Family Christmas Online™This is a page for carols that came from the United States. Many splendid Christmas songs have come from U.S. composers, including "White Christmas," "We Need a Little Christmas," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed" Reindeer," "I'll be Home for Christmas," and "The Christmas Song" (the one that starts "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.. . . ."). But those songs are not, technically carols (and besides, they're all under copyright so I can't include words and music here without getting in trouble anyway).I also believe that carols from the African American community deserve their own page, as do carols from native cultures. The carols on this page were written by U.S. composers, have subsequently come to be considered "classics," and have even found their way into church hymnbooks alongside such European "classics" as "Hark the Herald Angels Sing."
